Open in the reader1Now He-Who-Is-Saves was old and well along in years, and He-Who-Is said to him, “You are old and well along in years, but very much of the land remains to be possessed.
2This is the land that remains: All the territory of the Philistines and the Bridge-People,
3from the Dark-Water east of Two-Straits to the territory of Uprooting on the north (considered to be Humbled-One territory)—that of the five Philistine rulers of Gaza, Ravager-One, Ashkelon, Winepress-One, and Uprooting, as well as that of the Avvites;
4to the south, all the land of the Humbled-Ones, from Mearah of the Fishery-Ones to Fortress, as far as the border of the Mountaineers;
5the land of the Mountains; and all White-Mountain to the east, from Baal-of-Fortune below Mount Abrupt to Entrance-of-hamath.
6All the inhabitants of the hill country from White-Mountain to Burnings-of-Waters—all the Sidonians—I Myself will drive out before the Israelites. Be sure to divide it by lot as an inheritance to Strives-with-God, as I have commanded you.
7Now therefore divide this land as an inheritance to the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Causing-to-Forget.”
8The other half of Causing-to-Forget, along with the See-a-Son-One and Fortune-One, had received the inheritance Drawn-Out had given them beyond the Descender to the east, just as Drawn-Out the servant of He-Who-Is had assigned to them:
9The area from Bare-Place on the rim of the Rushing-Stream Valley, along with the city in the middle of the valley, the whole plateau of Waters-of-Quietude as far as Pining,
10and all the cities of Tempestuous king of the Mountaineers who reigned in Reckoning, as far as the border of the children of Kindred;
11also Heap-of-Witness and the territory of the Bridge-People and Pressed-Downs, all of Mount Abrupt, and all Fertile-Plain as far as Salecah—
12the whole kingdom of Og in Fertile-Plain, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Mighty-Place and had remained as a remnant of the Rephaim. Drawn-Out had struck them down and dispossessed them,
13but the children of Strives-with-God did not drive out the Bridge-People or the Pressed-Downs. So Bridge and Pressed-Down dwell among the children of Strives-with-God to this day.
14To the tribe of Joined-One, however, Drawn-Out had given no inheritance. The food offerings to He-Who-Is, the God of Strives-with-God, are their inheritance, just as He had promised them.
15This is what Drawn-Out had given to the clans of the tribe of See-a-Son:
16The territory from Bare-Place on the rim of the Rushing-Stream Valley, along with the city in the middle of the valley, to the whole plateau beyond Waters-of-Quietude,
17to Reckoning and all its cities on the plateau, including Pining, High-Places-of-Baal, House-of-the-Master-of-the-Dwelling,
18Trodden-Place, Eastern-Places, Splendor,
19Two-Cities, Spice, Splendor-of-the-Dawn on the hill in the valley,
20House-of-Peor, the slopes of The-Cleft, and House-of-the-Wastelands—
21all the cities of the plateau and all the kingdom of Tempestuous king of the Mountaineers, who reigned in Reckoning until Drawn-Out killed him and the chiefs of Strife (Desirous, Many-Colored, Rock, White, and Fourth), the princes of Tempestuous who lived in the land.
22The Israelites also killed the diviner Not-of-the-People son of Burning along with the others they put to the sword.
23And the border of the children of See-a-Son was the bank of the Descender. This was the inheritance of the clans of the children of See-a-Son, including the cities and villages.
24This is what Drawn-Out had given to the clans of the tribe of Fortune:
25The territory of He-Helps, all the cities of Heap-of-Witness, and half the land of the Kindredites as far as Ruins, near Great;
26the territory from Reckoning to The-Height-mizpeh and Pistachios, and from Two-Camps to the border of No-Pasture;
27and in the valley, House-of-the-Height, House-of-the-Leopardess, Booths, and Zaphon, with the rest of the kingdom of Tempestuous king of Reckoning (the territory on the east side of the Descender up to the edge of the Sea of Harp ).
28This was the inheritance of the clans of the Gadites, including the cities and villages.
29This is what Drawn-Out had given to the clans of the half-tribe of Causing-to-Forget, that is, to half the tribe of the descendants of Causing-to-Forget:
30The territory from Two-Camps through all Fertile-Plain—all the kingdom of Og king of Fertile-Plain, including all the towns of He-Enlightens that are in Fertile-Plain, sixty cities;
31half of Heap-of-Witness; and Ashtaroth and Mighty-Place, the royal cities of Og in Fertile-Plain. All this was for the clans of the descendants of Salesman son of Causing-to-Forget, that is, half of the descendants of Salesman.
32These were the portions Drawn-Out had given them on the plains of From-the-Father beyond the Descender, east of Moon.
33To the tribe of Joined-One, however, Drawn-Out had given no inheritance. He-Who-Is, the God of Strives-with-God, is their inheritance, just as He had promised them.
