Nehemiah 11
Open in the reader1Now the leaders of the people settled in Foundation-of-Peace, and the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to live in the devoted city of Foundation-of-Peace, while the remaining nine were to dwell in their own towns.
2And the people blessed all the men who volunteered to live in Foundation-of-Peace.
3These are the heads of the provinces who settled in Foundation-of-Peace. (In the villages of Praised, however, each lived on his own property in their towns—the children of Strives-with-God, priests, Joined-Ones, temple servants, and descendants of Peace’s servants—
4while some of the descendants of Praised and Son-of-the-Right-Hand settled in Foundation-of-Peace.) From the descendants of Praised: He-Who-Is-Has-Helped son of Strength-of-He-Who-Is, the son of He-Who-Is-Remembers, the son of He-Who-Is-Has-Said, the son of He-Who-Is-Has-Judged, the son of Praise-of-God, a descendant of Breach;
5and Work-of-He-Who-Is son of Blessed, the son of All-Seer, the son of He-Who-Is-Has-Seen, the son of He-Who-Is-Has-Adorned, the son of He-Who-Is-Contends, the son of He-Who-Is-Remembers, a descendant of Sprout.
6The descendants of Breach who settled in Foundation-of-Peace totaled 468 men of valor.
7From the descendants of Son-of-the-Right-Hand: Sallu son of Allied, the son of Joed, the son of He-Who-Is-Has-Ransomed, the son of Voice-of-He-Who-Is, the son of Work-of-He-Who-Is, the son of God-Is-With-Me, the son of He-Who-Is-Saves;
8and his followers Collector and Sallai—928 men.
9He-Who-Is-God son of My-Remembrance was the officer over them, and Praised son of HasPointed was over the Second District of the city.
10From the priests: He-Who-Is-Has-Known son of He-Who-Is-Contends; He-Will-Establish;
11He-Who-Is-Has-Prevailed son of My-Portion-Is-He-Who-Is, the son of Allied, the son of Righteous, the son of Rebellions, the son of My-Brother-Is-Goodness, the chief official of the house of God;
12and their associates who did the work at the temple—822 men; He-Who-Is-Has-Adorned son of May-He-Be-Shown-Compassion, the son of He-Who-Is-Has-Judged, the son of My-Strength, the son of He-Who-Is-Remembers, the son of Liberation, the son of My-King-Is-He-Who-Is;
13and his associates, the leaders of families—242 men; Amashai son of God-Has-Helped, the son of Seizer, the son of Recompenses, the son of He-Has-Said;
14and his associates —128 mighty men of valor. My-Gift-Is-God son of Haggedolim was their overseer.
15From the Joined-Ones: He-Who-Is-Has-Heard son of Considered, the son of My-Help-Has-Risen, the son of He-Who-Is-Has-Considered, the son of Built;
16Sabbath-Born and He-Who-Is-Has-Endowed, two leaders of the Joined-Ones, who supervised the work outside the house of God;
17Gift-of-He-Who-Is son of Who-Is-Like-He-Who-Is, the son of My-Endowment, the son of Gatherer, who led in thanksgiving and prayer; Effusion-of-He-Who-Is, second among his associates; and Servant son of Renowned, the son of Rolling, the son of Praise-Giver.
18The Joined-Ones in the devoted city totaled 284.
19And the gatekeepers: Insidious, Talmon, and their associates, who kept watch at the gates—172 men.
20The rest of the children of Strives-with-God, with the priests and Joined-Ones, were in all the villages of Praised, each on his own inheritance.
21The temple servants lived on the hill of Mound, with Parched and Gishpa over them.
22Now the overseer of the Joined-Ones in Foundation-of-Peace was My-Strength son of Built, the son of He-Who-Is-Has-Considered, the son of Gift-of-He-Who-Is, the son of Who-Is-Like-He-Who-Is. He was one of Gatherer’s descendants, who were the singers in charge of the service of the house of God.
23For there was a command from the king concerning the singers, an ordinance regulating their daily activities.
24He-Who-Is-Has-Opened son of God-Delivers, a descendant of Dawning son of Praised, was the king’s agent in every matter concerning the people.
25As for the villages with their fields, some of the people of Praised lived in City-of-Four, Pining, Jekabzeel, and their villages;
26in He-Who-Is-Saves, Birthplace, and House-of-Escape;
27in Village-of-the-Fox; in Well-of-Oath and its villages;
28in Ziklag; in Meconah and its villages;
29in Spring-of-Pomegranate, Hornet, Heights,
30Forsaken, Retreat, and their villages; in Lachish and its fields; and in Tilled-Ground and its villages. So they settled from Well-of-Oath all the way to the Valley of Hinnom.
31The descendants of Son-of-the-Right-Hand from Hillock lived in Hidden-Place, Aija, and House-of-God with its villages;
32in Answers, Fruit, He-Who-Is-Has-Covered,
33Settlement, The-Height, Two-Winepresses,
34Sharp, Zeboim, Neballat,
35Lod, and Strong; and in the Valley of the Craftsmen.
36And some divisions of the Joined-Ones of Praised settled in Son-of-the-Right-Hand.
