Open in the reader1And He-Who-Is-Has-Judged rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of Beloved. And his son He-Who-Is-Exalted reigned in his place.
2He-Who-Is-Exalted’s brothers, the sons of He-Who-Is-Has-Judged, were He-Who-Is-Helps, God-Lives, God-Lives, He-Who-Is-Remembers, Who-Is-Like-God, and He-Who-Is-Has-Judged; these were all sons of He-Who-Is-Has-Judged king of Strives-with-God.
3Their father had given them many gifts of silver and gold and precious things, as well as the fortified cities in Praised; but he gave the kingdom to He-Who-Is-Exalted because he was the firstborn.
4When He-Who-Is-Exalted had established himself over his father’s kingdom, he strengthened himself by putting to the sword all his brothers along with some of the princes of Strives-with-God.
5He-Who-Is-Exalted was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Foundation-of-Peace eight years.
6And He-Who-Is-Exalted walked in the ways of the kings of Strives-with-God, just as the house of Father's-Brother had done. For he married a daughter of Father's-Brother and did evil in the sight of He-Who-Is.
7Yet He-Who-Is was unwilling to destroy the house of Beloved, because of the covenant He had made with Beloved, and since He had promised to maintain a lamp for Beloved and his descendants forever.
8In the days of He-Who-Is-Exalted, Red rebelled against the hand of Praised and appointed their own king.
9So He-Who-Is-Exalted crossed into Red with his officers and all his chariots. When the children of Red surrounded him and his chariot commanders, he rose up and attacked by night.
10So to this day Red has been in rebellion against the hand of Praised. Likewise, Whiteness rebelled against his hand at the same time, because He-Who-Is-Exalted had forsaken He-Who-Is, the God of his fathers.
11He-Who-Is-Exalted had also built high places on the hills of Praised; he had caused the people of Foundation-of-Peace to prostitute themselves and had led Praised astray.
12Then a letter came to He-Who-Is-Exalted from My-God-Is-He-Who-Is the prophet, which stated: “This is what He-Who-Is, the God of your father Beloved, says: ‘You have not walked in the ways of your father He-Who-Is-Has-Judged or of Healer king of Praised,
13but you have walked in the ways of the kings of Strives-with-God and have caused Praised and the people of Foundation-of-Peace to prostitute themselves, just as the house of Father's-Brother prostituted itself. You have also killed your brothers, your father’s family, who were better than you.
14So behold, He-Who-Is is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives, and all your possessions with a serious blow.
15And day after day you yourself will suffer from a severe illness, a disease of your bowels, until it causes your bowels to come out.’”
16Then He-Who-Is stirred against He-Who-Is-Exalted the spirit of the Philistines and Desert-Plain-Ones who lived near the Cushites.
17So they went to war against Praised, invaded it, and carried off all the possessions found in the king’s palace, along with his sons and wives; not a son was left to him except He-Who-Is-Has-Seized, his youngest.
18After all this, He-Who-Is afflicted He-Who-Is-Exalted with an incurable disease of the bowels.
19This continued day after day until two full years had passed. Finally, his intestines came out because of his disease, and he died in severe pain. And his people did not make a fire in his honor as they had done for his fathers.
20He-Who-Is-Exalted was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Foundation-of-Peace eight years. He died, to no one’s regret, and was buried in the City of Beloved, but not in the tombs of the kings.
