So all Strives-with-God was recorded in the genealogies written in the Book of the Kings of Strives-with-God. But Praised was exiled to Confusion because of their unfaithfulness.

Now the first to resettle their own property in their cities were children of Strives-with-God, priests, Joined-Ones, and temple servants.

Some of the descendants of Praised, Son-of-the-Right-Hand, Double-Fruit, and Causing-to-Forget lived in Foundation-of-Peace:

Helpful son of My-Kinsman-Is-Splendor, the son of Sheaf-Gatherer, the son of He-Has-Spoken, the son of Built, a descendant of Breach son of Praised.

From the Shilonites: He-Who-Is-Has-Made the firstborn and his sons.

From the children of Dawning: God-Sweeps-Away and 690 relatives.

From the Benjamites: Sallu son of Allied, the son of Give-Thanks-to-He-Who-Is, the son of HasPointed;

He-Who-Is-Builds son of May-He-Be-Shown-Compassion; Terebinth son of My-Strength, the son of Michri; Allied son of He-Who-Is-Has-Judged, the son of Friend-of-God, the son of He-Who-Is-Builds;

and 956 of their relatives according to their genealogy. All these men were heads of their families.

From the priests: He-Who-Is-Has-Known, He-Who-Is-Contends, and He-Will-Establish;

He-Who-Is-Helps son of My-Portion-Is-He-Who-Is, the son of Allied, the son of Righteous, the son of Rebellions, the son of My-Brother-Is-Goodness, the chief official of God’s temple;

He-Who-Is-Has-Adorned son of May-He-Be-Shown-Compassion, the son of Liberation, the son of My-King-Is-He-Who-Is; Maasai son of Ornament-of-God, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Allied, the son of Recompenses, the son of He-Has-Said;

and 1,760 of their relatives, the heads of their families, able men for the work of the service of the house of God.

From the Joined-Ones: He-Who-Is-Has-Heard son of Considered, the son of My-Help-Has-Risen, the son of He-Who-Is-Has-Considered, a descendant of Bitter;

Examiner, Heresh, Rolling, and Gift-of-He-Who-Is son of Who-Is-Like-He-Who-Is, the son of My-Remembrance, the son of Gatherer;

Servant-of-He-Who-Is son of He-Who-Is-Has-Heard, the son of Rolling, the son of Praise-Giver; and He-Who-Is-Has-Blessed son of Healer, the son of God-Has-Acquired, who lived in the villages of the Of-Dropping-Places.

These were the gatekeepers: Requital, Insidious, Talmon, My-Brother-Is-a-Gift, and their relatives. Requital was their chief;

he was previously stationed at the King’s Gate on the east side. These were the gatekeepers from the camp of the children of Joined.

Requital son of Caller, the son of My-Father-Has-Gathered, the son of Shaven, and his relatives from the Shaven-Ones were assigned to guard the thresholds of the Tent, just as their fathers had been assigned to guard the entrance to the dwelling of He-Who-Is.

In earlier times Phinehas son of My-God-Is-Help had been in charge of the gatekeepers, and He-Who-Is was with him.

He-Who-Is-Remembers son of He-Who-Is-Has-Recompensed was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

The number of those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds was 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. Beloved and Heard-of-God the seer had appointed them to their positions of trust.

So they and their descendants were assigned to guard the gates of the house of He-Who-Is—the house called the Tent.

The gatekeepers were stationed on the four sides: east, west, north, and south.

Their relatives came from their villages at fixed times to serve with them for seven-day periods.

But the four chief gatekeepers, who were Joined-Ones, were entrusted with the rooms and the treasuries of the house of God.

They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they were responsible for guarding it and opening it every morning.

Some of them were in charge of the articles used in worship, to count them whenever they were brought in or taken out.

Others were put in charge of the furnishings and other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the fine flour, wine, oil, frankincense, and spices.

And some of the sons of the priests mixed the spices.

A Joined-Ones named Gift-of-He-Who-Is, the firstborn son of Requital the Shaven-One, was entrusted with baking the bread.

Some of their Allied-Ones relatives were responsible for preparing the rows of the showbread every Rest.

Those who were musicians, the heads of Joined-One families, stayed in the temple chambers and were exempt from other duties because they were on duty day and night.

All these were heads of Joined-One families, chiefs according to their genealogies, and they lived in Foundation-of-Peace.

God-Sweeps-Away the father of Hill-Town lived in Hill-Town. His wife’s name was Pressed-Down.

Servile was his firstborn son, then Rock, Bow, Baal, Lamp, Generous,

Walled-Place, His-Brother, He-Who-Is-Remembers, and Staves.

Staves was the father of Shimeam. They too lived alongside their relatives in Foundation-of-Peace.

Lamp was the father of Bow, Bow was the father of Asked-For, and Asked-For was the father of He-Who-Is-Has-Given, My-King-Is-Salvation, My-Father-Is-Generous, and Man-of-Baal.

The son of He-Who-Is-Has-Given: Contender-of-the-Lord, who was the father of Who-Is-Like-He-Who-Is.

The sons of Who-Is-Like-He-Who-Is: Expansive, King, Tahrea, and He-Has-Grasped.

He-Has-Grasped was the father of Honeycomb; Honeycomb was the father of Concealment, Death-Is-Strong, and My-Song; and My-Song was the father of Going-Forth.

Going-Forth was the father of Binea. He-Who-Is-Heals was his son, God-Has-Made his son, and Set-Apart his son.

And Set-Apart had six sons, and these were their names: My-Help-Has-Risen, First-Born, God-Hears, He-Who-Is-Has-Esteemed, Servant-of-He-Who-Is, and Gracious. These were the sons of Set-Apart.
