2He-Who-Is-Has-Seen son of Flowing was the father of Unity, and Unity was the father of Brother-of-Waters and Lahad. These were the clans of the Hornet-Town-Ones.
3These were the sons of Lair-of-the-Bird-of-Prey: God-Sows, Ishma, and Idbash. And their sister was named Hazzelelponi.
4Face-of-God was the father of Walled-Place, and Help was the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of White, the firstborn of Fruitful and the father of House-of-Bread.
5Black the father of Trumpet-Blast had two wives, Rust and Young-Girl.
6Young-Girl bore to him Their-Possession, Well, Southerner, and HaAhashtari. These were the descendants of Young-Girl.
7The sons of Rust were Zereth, Tawny, Hire,
8and The-Thorn, who was the father of Anub and Zobebah and of the clans of Behind-the-Rampart son of Exalted.
9Now He-Causes-Pain was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him He-Causes-Pain, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
10And He-Causes-Pain called out to the God of Strives-with-God, “If only You would bless me and enlarge my territory! May Your hand be with me and keep me from harm, so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted the request of He-Causes-Pain.
11Basket the brother of Shuhah was the father of Mehir, who was the father of Restful.
12Restful was the father of House-of-the-Giant, of Limping, and of Tehinnah the father of City-of-the-Serpent. These were the men of Rider-clan.
13The sons of Hunter: Lion-of-God and He-Who-Is-Has-Prevailed. The sons of Lion-of-God: Hathath and My-Dwelling-Places.
14Meonothai was the father of Fawn, and He-Who-Is-Has-Prevailed was the father of He-Who-Is-Father, the father of those living in Son-of-Hinnom, which was given this name because its people were craftsmen.
15The sons of Dog son of He-Will-Be-Prepared: Iru, Terebinth, and Naam. The son of Terebinth: Hunter.
16The sons of He-Will-Praise-God: Pitch, Flowing, Tiria, and Upright-with-God.
17The sons of Ezrah: Abundance, Rebellion, Fawn, and Jalon. And Rebellion’s wife Daughter-of-He-Who-Is gave birth to Bitter, Destructive, and Ishbah the father of Place-of-Hearing.
18These were the children of Pharaoh’s daughter Daughter-of-He-Who-Is. Rebellion also took a Judean wife, who gave birth to Descent the father of Walled-Place, Company the father of Thicket, and Obedience-of-God the father of Forsaken.
19The sons of Splendor-of-He-Who-Is’s wife, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Citadel the Garmite and of Place-of-Hearing the Pressed-Down.
20The sons of Shimon: Faithful, Rinnah, Son-of-Grace, and Tilon. The descendants of My-Salvation: Zoheth and Son-of-Zoheth.
21The sons of Asked-For son of Praised: Watchful the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Summit and the clans of the linen workers at House-ashbea,
22Jokim, the men of Cozeba, and He-Who-Is-Strong and Saraph, who ruled in From-the-Father and Returner-to-Bread. (These names are from ancient records.)
23These were the potters who lived at Netaim and Sheep-Wall. They lived there in the service of the king.
24The descendants of Heard: Day-of-God, Right-Hand, He-Will-Contend, Dawning, and Asked-For.
25The sons of Shaul: Requital, Sweet-Spice, and Hearing.
26The sons of Hearing: Hammuel, Mindful, and My-Hearing.
27My-Hearing had sixteen sons and six daughters, but his brothers did not have many children, so their whole clan did not become as numerous as the sons of Praised.
28They lived in Well-of-Oath, Birthplace, Village-of-the-Fox,
29Faint, Bone, He-Begets,
30Man-of-God, Devoted-to-Destruction, Ziklag,
31House-of-Chariots, Settlement-of-Horses, House-of-Birei, and Two-Gates. These were their cities until the reign of Beloved.
32And their villages were Lair-of-the-Bird-of-Prey, Spring-of-Pomegranate, Pomegranate, Measure, and Smoke—five towns—
33and all their surrounding villages as far as Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept a genealogical record:
34Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah son of He-Who-Is-Strong,
35He-Who-Is-God, He-Who-Is-He son of He-Who-Is-Causes-to-Dwell (son of He-Who-Is-Has-Prevailed, son of God-Has-Made),
36My-Eyes-Are-Toward-He-Who-Is, Jaakobah, He-Who-Is-Brings-Low, He-Who-Is-Has-Made, Ornament-of-God, God-Sets-in-Place, He-Who-Is-Has-Built,
37and Prominent son of Shiphi (son of Oak, son of Praised-of-He-Who-Is, son of Watchful, son of He-Who-Is-Has-Heard).
38These men listed by name were the leaders of their clans. Their families increased greatly,
39and they journeyed to the entrance of Walled-Place, to the east side of the valley, in search of pasture for their flocks.
40There they found rich, good pasture, and the land was spacious, peaceful, and quiet; for some children of Hot had lived there formerly.
41These who were noted by name came in the days of He-Who-Is-Has-Strengthened king of Praised. They attacked the Hamites in their dwellings as well as the Dwelling-Folks who were there, devoting them to destruction even to this day. Then they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks.
42And five hundred of these children of Heard led by He-Who-Is-Has-Delivered, Servant-of-He-Who-Is, He-Who-Is-Heals, and My-Strength-Is-God, the sons of My-Salvation, went to Mount Hairy
43and struck down the remnant of the children of Amalek who had escaped. And they have lived there to this day.
