Open in the reader1These were the divisions of the descendants of Aaron. The sons of Aaron were Generous, He-Is-My-Father, My-God-Is-Help, and Coast-of-Palms.
2But Generous and He-Is-My-Father died before their father did, and they had no sons; so My-God-Is-Help and Coast-of-Palms served as priests.
3With the help of My-God-Is-Help’s descendant Righteous and Coast-of-Palms’s descendant My-Brother-Is-King, Beloved divided them according to the offices of their service.
4Since more leaders were found among My-God-Is-Help’s descendants than those of Coast-of-Palms, they were divided accordingly. There were sixteen heads of families from the descendants of My-God-Is-Help and eight from the descendants of Coast-of-Palms.
5Thus they were divided by lot, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both My-God-Is-Help’s and Coast-of-Palms’s descendants.
6The scribe, He-Who-Is-Has-Heard son of God-Has-Given, a Levite, recorded their names in the presence of the king and of the officers: Righteous the priest, My-Brother-Is-King son of Father-of-Abundance, and the heads of families of the priests and the Levites—one family being taken from My-God-Is-Help, and then one from Coast-of-Palms.
7The first lot fell to He-Who-Is-Contends, the second to He-Who-Is-Has-Known,
8the third to Devoted, the fourth to Seorim,
9the fifth to My-King-Is-He-Who-Is, the sixth to From-the-Right-Hand,
10the seventh to The-Thorn, the eighth to My-Father-Is-He-Who-Is,
11the ninth to He-Who-Is-Saves, the tenth to He-Who-Is-Has-Dwelt,
12the eleventh to My-God-Will-Restore, the twelfth to He-Raises,
13the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,
14the fifteenth to Cheerfulness, the sixteenth to He-Has-Said,
15the seventeenth to Boar, the eighteenth to Happizzez,
16the nineteenth to He-Who-Is-Has-Opened, the twentieth to God-Will-Strengthen,
17the twenty-first to He-Will-Establish, the twenty-second to Recompensed,
18the twenty-third to He-Who-Is-Has-Drawn-Out, and the twenty-fourth to Refuge-of-He-Who-Is.
19This was their appointed order for service when they entered the house of He-Who-Is, according to the regulations prescribed for them by their forefather Aaron, as He-Who-Is, the God of Strives-with-God, had commanded him.
20Now these were the rest of the descendants of Joined: From the sons of Kindred-Is-Exalted: Returned-to-God; from the sons of Returned-to-God: He-Who-Is-Rejoices.
21As for He-Who-Is-Has-Widened, from his sons: The first was He-Who-Is-Forgets.
22From the Bright-Oil-clan: Peaceable-Ones; from the sons of Peaceable-Ones: Unity.
23From the sons of Association: He-Who-Is-Throws was the first, He-Who-Is-Has-Said the second, God-Will-See the third, and He-Raises-the-People the fourth.
24From the sons of My-Strength-Is-God: Who-Is-Like-He-Who-Is; from the sons of Who-Is-Like-He-Who-Is: Diamond.
25The brother of Who-Is-Like-He-Who-Is: He-Who-Is-Forgets; from the sons of He-Who-Is-Forgets: He-Who-Is-Remembers.
26The sons of Bitter: Sickly and Sensitive. The son of He-Who-Is-Strengthens: Beno.
27The descendants of Bitter from He-Who-Is-Strengthens: Beno, Shoham, Mindful, and Ibri.
28From Sickly: My-God-Is-Help, who had no sons.
29From Bow: God-Will-Have-Compassion the son of Bow.
30And the sons of Sensitive: Sickly, Flock, and Heights. These were the sons of the Joined-Ones, according to their families.
31As their brothers the descendants of Aaron did, they also cast lots in the presence of King Beloved and of Righteous, My-Brother-Is-King, and the heads of the families of the priests and Joined-Ones—the family heads and their younger brothers alike.
