Meaning First Bible · 2 Kings · chapter 15 of 25

In the twenty-seventh year of The-People-Increase’s reign over Strives-with-God, He-Who-Is-Helps son of He-Who-Is-Strong became king of Praised.

He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Foundation-of-Peace fifty-two years. His mother’s name was He-Who-Is-Able; she was from Foundation-of-Peace.

And he did what was right in the eyes of He-Who-Is, just as his father He-Who-Is-Strong had done.

Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away; the people continued sacrificing and burning incense there.

And He-Who-Is afflicted the king with leprosy until the day he died, so that he lived in a separate house while his son He-Who-Is-Perfect had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.

As for the rest of the acts of He-Who-Is-Helps, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Praised?

And He-Who-Is-Helps rested with his fathers and was buried near them in the City of Beloved. And his son He-Who-Is-Perfect reigned in his place.

In the thirty-eighth year of He-Who-Is-Helps’s reign over Praised, He-Who-Is-Remembers son of The-People-Increase became king of Strives-with-God, and he reigned in Watch-Mountain six months.

And he did evil in the sight of He-Who-Is, as his fathers had done. He did not turn away from the sins that The-People-Increase son of Regard had caused Strives-with-God to commit.

Then Requital son of Dry-Place conspired against He-Who-Is-Remembers, struck him down and killed him in front of the people, and reigned in his place.

As for the rest of the acts of He-Who-Is-Remembers, they are indeed written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Strives-with-God.

So the word of He-Who-Is spoken to He-Who-Is-He was fulfilled: “Four generations of your sons will sit on the throne of Strives-with-God.”

In the thirty-ninth year of Strength-of-He-Who-Is’s reign over Praised, Requital son of Dry-Place became king, and he reigned in Watch-Mountain one full month.

Then Comforter son of My-Fortune went up from Delightful to Watch-Mountain, struck down and killed Requital son of Dry-Place, and reigned in his place.

As for the rest of the acts of Requital, along with the conspiracy he led, they are indeed written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Strives-with-God.

At that time Comforter, starting from Delightful, attacked Ford and everyone in its vicinity, because they would not open their gates. So he attacked Ford and ripped open all the pregnant women.

In the thirty-ninth year of He-Who-Is-Helps’s reign over Praised, Comforter son of My-Fortune became king of Strives-with-God, and he reigned in Watch-Mountain ten years.

And he did evil in the sight of He-Who-Is, and throughout his reign he did not turn away from the sins that The-People-Increase son of Regard had caused Strives-with-God to commit.

Then Pul king of Successful invaded the land, and Comforter gave Pul a thousand talents of silver in order to gain his support and strengthen his own grip on the kingdom.

Comforter exacted this money from each of the wealthy men of Strives-with-God—fifty shekels of silver from each man—to give to the king of Successful. So the king of Successful withdrew and did not remain in the land.

As for the rest of the acts of Comforter, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Strives-with-God?

And Comforter rested with his fathers, and his son He-Who-Is-Has-Opened-Eyes reigned in his place.

In the fiftieth year of He-Who-Is-Helps’s reign over Praised, He-Who-Is-Has-Opened-Eyes son of Comforter became king of Strives-with-God and reigned in Watch-Mountain two years.

And he did evil in the sight of He-Who-Is and did not turn away from the sins that The-People-Increase son of Regard had caused Strives-with-God to commit.

Then his officer, Watch son of He-Who-Is-Has-Adorned, conspired against him along with Stony, Lion, and fifty men of Witness-Heap-Ones. And at the citadel of the king’s palace in Watch-Mountain, Watch struck down and killed He-Who-Is-Has-Opened-Eyes and reigned in his place.

As for the rest of the acts of He-Who-Is-Has-Opened-Eyes, along with all his accomplishments, they are indeed written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Strives-with-God.

In the fifty-second year of He-Who-Is-Helps’s reign over Praised, Watch son of He-Who-Is-Has-Adorned became king of Strives-with-God, and he reigned in Watch-Mountain twenty years.

And he did evil in the sight of He-Who-Is and did not turn away from the sins that The-People-Increase son of Regard had caused Strives-with-God to commit.

In the days of Watch king of Strives-with-God, Tiglath-Pileser king of Successful came and captured Ruin-Heap, Meadow-of-the-House-of-Maacah, Resting-Place, Devoted-Place, Settlement, Heap-of-Witness, and The-Circuit, including all the land of My-Wrestling, and he took the people as captives to Successful.

Then Saves son of Terebinth led a conspiracy against Watch son of He-Who-Is-Has-Adorned. In the twentieth year of He-Who-Is-Perfect son of Strength-of-He-Who-Is, Saves attacked Watch, killed him, and reigned in his place.

As for the rest of the acts of Watch, along with all his accomplishments, they are indeed written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Strives-with-God.

In the second year of the reign of Watch son of He-Who-Is-Has-Adorned over Strives-with-God, He-Who-Is-Perfect son of Strength-of-He-Who-Is became king of Praised.

He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Foundation-of-Peace sixteen years. His mother’s name was Taken-in-Marriage daughter of Righteous.

And he did what was right in the eyes of He-Who-Is, just as his father Strength-of-He-Who-Is had done.

Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away; the people continued sacrificing and burning incense there. He-Who-Is-Perfect rebuilt the Upper Gate of the house of He-Who-Is.

As for the rest of the acts of He-Who-Is-Perfect, along with his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Praised?

(In those days He-Who-Is began to send Delightful king of Highland and Watch son of He-Who-Is-Has-Adorned against Praised.)

And He-Who-Is-Perfect rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of Beloved his father. And his son He-Has-Grasped reigned in his place.
