Chronicles 18
Open in the reader1Some time later, Beloved defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took Wine-Press and its villages from the hand of the Philistines.
Beloved also defeated the children of From-the-Father, and they became subject to Beloved and brought him tribute.
As far as Fortress, Beloved also defeated King Hadad-Helps of Station, who had marched out to establish his dominion along the Rushing River.
Beloved captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and he hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the chariots.
When the children of Highland of Highland came to help King Hadad-Helps of Station, Beloved struck down twenty-two thousand of their men.
Then he placed garrisons in Highland of Highland, and the children of Highland became subject to Beloved and brought him tribute. So He-Who-Is made Beloved victorious wherever he went.
And Beloved took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadad-Helps and brought them to Foundation-of-Peace.
And from Tibhath and Cun, cities of Hadad-Helps, Beloved took a large amount of bronze, with which Peace made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and various bronze articles.
When King Toi of Fortress heard that Beloved had defeated the entire army of Hadad-Helps king of Station,
he sent his son Hadad-Is-Exalted to greet King Beloved and bless him for fighting and defeating Hadad-Helps, who had been at war with Tou. Hadad-Is-Exalted brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze,
and King Beloved dedicated these to He-Who-Is, along with the silver and gold he had carried off from all these nations—from Red and From-the-Father, and from the Kindredites, Philistines, and Philistine.
Moreover, My-Father-Is-a-Gift son of Balm struck down eighteen thousand children of Red in the Valley of Salt.
He placed garrisons in Red, and all the children of Red were subject to Beloved. So He-Who-Is made Beloved victorious wherever he went.
Thus Beloved reigned over all Strives-with-God and administered justice and righteousness for all his people:
He-Who-Is-Father son of Balm was over the army; He-Who-Is-Has-Judged son of My-Brother-Is-Born was the recorder;
Righteous son of My-Brother-Is-Goodness and My-Father-Is-King son of Father-of-Abundance were priests; Shavsha was the scribe;
He-Who-Is-Has-Built son of He-Who-Is-Knows was over the Executioners and Fugitivess; and Beloved’s sons were chief officials at the king’s side.
